We are looking to hire a Hardware Systems Engineer to join us on a full-time basis to develop real-time safety critical Electronic Control Units (ECUs) for passenger car or commercial vehicle powertrain control systems.

The Job

Key responsibilities

  • Capturing and analysing customer requirements using Polarion.
  • Designing control algorithms & strategies (using Matlab\Simulink) and autocode generation of production intent code
  • Designing system diagnostics and CAN communication specifications
  • Development of safety monitoring strategies to the EGAS standard
  • Developing validation tests for electrical test bench, HiL and vehicle
  • Provide expertise for investigations and problem solving activities
  • Calibrating sensor interfaces and diagnostic strategies
  • Calibrating servo controls and regulators
  • Supporting the customer's engine and vehicle testing
  • Supporting system and hardware DFMEA

What we're looking for


  • Evaluate customer and internal requirements and propose electronics hardware solutions
  • Prepare ECU technical documentation
  • Interface with customer for hardware related items
  • Interface with internal hardware supplier for technical related items including quality
  • Develop and maintain test equipment, tools and processes in line with required automotive standards


  • Organize reviews to validate assigned development activities with peers as required
  • Achievement of quality standards and process

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in hardware engineering.

  • The ability to prioritise and organise own workload
