Based within the Outdoor Operations function, the Operations Project Manager is responsible for supporting the delivery of significant capital investment plans and delivering operational transformation projects across the across UK Outdoor business

The Job

The delivery of these projects will support our business strategy in the Outdoor Division, enabling increased scale and reach, sustaining, and increasing advertising revenue and market share.

This is a key Programmes leadership and business integration role with accountability for supporting the delivery to time cost and quality objectives. Excellent project delivery, organisational and stakeholder management skills will be required.

Responsibilities of the role

  • Manage key Operational project workstreams typically covering, but not limited to:
    • New franchise integration into operations
    • Supporting tenders and new franchise onboarding
    • Delivering Lean and Operational efficiency plans
    • Environmental strategy initiatives
    • Process embedding
    • Project delivery and integration of IT and Tech change plans that impact operations
  • Translate strategy into Implemention plans and the programme framework to apply effective governance and decision making
  • Inspire others to create an environment where change is embraced, adopted and sustained
  • Focus on outcomes and deliver with energy and determination
  • Keep it simple, cutting through complexity and seeking optimal solutions to problems and opportunities
  • Clear reporting and tracking, and deployment of risk and issue management, critical path monitoring, financial control, and quality assurance
  • Ensure scope is clearly defined and agreed and that there is an effective change control and review process in place
  • Managing project delivery through line management and / or matrix approach
  • Developing a strong network of key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective communication, control, and business integration.
  • Demonstrating excellent relationship and stakeholder management of key clients and third - party suppliers, with clear communication and effective escalation channels
  • Ensuring the correct contracting and legal frameworks are in place, alongside all relevant policies, procedures, accreditation and permits to manage liability and protect the business
  • Manage project costs throughout and support, through the administrator, the control of Purchase Orders, requisitions, and invoices
  • Communicate programme performance, time and outcomes in a timely way with relevant stakeholders
  • Develop additional PMO tracking improvements to assist in managing more detailed aspects of the overall project performance and deliverables.
  • Identifying and maintaining dependencies within programme/project schedules.
  • Very strong presentational and influencing skills
  • Work with internal and/or external clients and partners to understand their priorities, issues and success measures.

What you will need

  • 5+ years experience of working within major capital or operational business programmes and projects
  • Experience in delivering operational projects, tenders, and efficiency or business initiatives
  • Technology and digital deployments an advantage
  • Line management of direct reports
  • Governance and Risk management
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint and planning systems (MS project and/or Primavera P6)
  • Project Management trained/qualified - PRINCE2, Agile
  • Practical knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles
  • Strong communicator
  • Highly organised, self-driven and confident in challenging under performance and exposing and escalation of risks and issues
  • Comfortable operating in fast paced, highly commercial and matrix environments
  • Ability to review situations from a number of different perspectives
  • Provides challenging and stretching targets and assignments to direct reports
