The Job

Senior Engineer - Platform Management and Control Design - 12 month contract - Barrow-in-Furness - ££32.49 UMB or £25.28ph PAYE (Inside IR35)

The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.

Clearance Requirements & Eligibility


This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a BPSS check as part of this process. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct and/or indirect access to ITAR Material which means there are restrictions on dual nationals. The Role

Location: Split between home and New Malden site.

Software Engineer required to work in the Shared Infrastructure (SI) area undertaking work for the various Projects. The work is around the design, implementation and test of various software components for the system and for associated deployment tools. The work is New Malden based.

Purpose of role:

To undertake a range of complex software development activities in line with relevant processes, under the direction of the Software Manager providing support to the Software Technical Authority.

Describe with whom the role regularly interfaces:

  • Software Manager
  • Engineering Manager
  • SDA and/or Chief Technical Authority
  • Other software engineers in the team and across the wider software community

Project management team

Major Tasks and Activities:

  1. To lead software design to ensure that the overall system will behave according to its requirements in large & complex components.
  2. Write high quality software according to coding standards and maintain existing software by investigating issues and identifying solutions.
  3. Write software test schedules and use them to test the system.
  4. Clearly document appropriate information, so that others can understand the software and the system.
  5. Fully contribute to process improvement within the team to ensure that the team always looks to improve how it works.
  6. Liaise with other team members, teams and customers to ensure key information is understood.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to operate in a large, complex multi-project environment
  • We require a software engineer with experience with many of the following:
  • C# experience
  • WPF(Windows Presentation Foundation) experience
  • Python experience
  • Agile development process
  • Interpersonal skills - Highly motivated, proactive, organised, inclusive team worker.
