Our client, a defence & military communications provider, is requiring an Enterprise Architect to join them on a permanent basis.

Overview -

  • Basic salary up to 85K + benefits
  • Candidate must have an understanding of MOD enterprise.
  • They should be able to understand business & technology.
  • This person will have 5 direct reportees, Field Support Engineers (level 3) reporting to them.
  • They should have an understanding of Virtualization.
  • The person will be provided enough flexibility to WFH/office (Farnborough).
  • The candidate should be security cleared/ or have held it in the past.
  • Candidate will get a chance to work on dynamic and exciting environment, from AI to space optics.
  • They will get an opportunity to travel oversees (US).


Working across the UK business and leveraging expertise and technology, the Enterprise Architect for C4ISR role requires a deep understanding of customer needs in this specific area in order to develop solutions that meet the required business outcomes, can be differentiated from our competitors and to add real value to the customer. They will have management experience to lead a team of solution architects that will take the EAs vision and deliver more focused solutions specific to a given domain.

Through previous knowledge and or the creation of relationships within government and national security customers across multiple domains; the role will identify challenges facing end users from defence, other government departments, first responders and wider markets. By establishing the business and operational context and mapping this to technology, partners and using this to support sales and programme enablement.

A creative thinker, equipped with business acumen and an understanding of business architecture, they have the skills and toolset to produce blueprints and high level designs to describe or initiate conceptual or future work. Using these skills, along with enthusiasm and self motivation they will report to the UK CTO and work alongside engineering and business development staff to evaluate and create real world capabilities to meet demanding and diverse environments.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with the global team to understand the in-house capabilities across multiple domains. Taking these capabilities and describing them and other technologies to customers in presentations and whitepapers.
  • Supporting the Business Development team with customer briefings, demonstrations, bids and proposals to gain funding for end user solutions which could be product and / or service based
  • Interface with the Armed Forces, government departments, other industry players of all sizes, and technical authorities, to ensure solutions are fit for purpose and meet the needs of demanding user communities
  • Capable of running design thinking workshops internally and externally to create a capability to meet a given outcome.
  • Attend industry events as a technical expert in C4ISR and contribute to the shaping of customer thinking and concepts.
  • Communicates effectively with team. Provides regular updates and encourages a feedback culture so their team can openly express their own views/ opinions.
  • Creates and promotes an inclusive and collaborative environment within own team and across the organisation
  • Ability to build and own a capability from concept to delivery
  • Contribute to a variety of IA, satcom and ground network projects across the company portfolio.
  • Assess and compare communications platforms and develop the most viable solutions; responsible for selecting the most optimal option and develop the roadmap for the selected solution.
  • Ability to lead a successful, engaged and motivated team to deliver team/departmental goals and the wider organisational goal
  • Communicates effectively with team. Provides regular business updates and encourages a feedback culture so team can openly express their own views/ opinions and provide positive challenge where appropriate

  • Engineering or Computer Science degree (ideally TOGAF)
  • An understanding of commercial enterprise technologies (Networking (SDWAN), Cloud, 4G, Virtualisation)
  • Knowledge of the Military and Defense systems and Operations (Satcom, Encryption, SecOps)
  • User Story creation and Technology ideation and definition.
  • A good understanding of Business Architecture
  • Demonstrable track record for architectural delivery
  • Experience of customer facing roles
  • Comfortable presenting to a diverse audience on technical solutions.
  • Ability to identify and deliver commercial business opportunities
  • Experience of bid/proposal and whitepaper creation
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Pro-active and flexible approach
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel to customer locations and other office locations (both UK and internationally)
