Job description

Our client delivering Highways, Planning and Regulatory services on behalf of the Borough. The Re Highways Service exists to provide high quality and cost-effective highways and transportation management solutions, which are of real benefit to residents, businesses and visitors of the London Borough of Barnet, both now and into the future.

Essential Experience

• Five years relevant professional work experience in Civil/Highway Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Transportation or equivalent
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation or equivalent
• Excellent structural engineering and asset management knowledge and knowledge of associated IT systems, applications and packages (including Bridge Station)
• Good knowledge of engineering contracts, contract procedures and contract law for delivery of works, including Construction Design and Management Regulations (2017)
• Must be able to demonstrate suitable relevant experience in highways contract supervision, including the preparation of contract bill of quantities, specifications and associated contract documents
• General knowledge of highways and transport policies and associated working knowledge of legislation
• Demonstrable experience of asset management approach
• Experience in financial and cost management
• Experience of surveying and project cost calculation
• Demonstrable customer care skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Good budgetary management skills
• Experience of working with consultants and/or contractors
• Able to work without close supervision
• Confident in dealing with day-to-day performance issues as they arise
• Ability to keep good work records
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel
• Full driving licenceor the ability to travel around the borough on a daily basis
