We have an exciting opportunity to support our clients goal to transform the management of highway assets through the delivery of innovative research and consultancy to clients in the UK and overseas.

The Job

You will bring your wide range of experience in asset management to this role. Your experience could include strategic asset management, developing risk-based asset management policy, innovative data analysis techniques and asset performance modelling. You will have experience in project planning, bidding and delivery of project outputs. Additionally, you will also have the awareness and understanding of new emerging data collection technologies, knowledge of the concepts of machine learning, data ontology and advanced asset management decision support tools including BIM and Digital Twins.

They are currently supporting national and international clients in the development of their asset management strategy, policy and systems technology. You will be leading consultancy and research programmes to support these objectives. This role will also require you to build relationships with stakeholders across the UK and internationally, to identify, win and deliver projects.

The successful applicant can be based from anywhere in the UK , but will be expected to attend our headquarters in Crowthorne, Berkshire on occasion.

Key Duties / Responsibilities

  • Leading the delivery of research and consultancy projects for UK customers such as Highways England, Transport Scotland, local authorities and private sector, and for overseas customers in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia
  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities to ensure the sustainability of programmes of asset management work in the UK and overseas
  • Enhancing capabilities through innovative thinking and product development
  • Supporting industry-wide reputation for academic and technical excellence
  • Providing technical expertise to develop and support road asset management system / software

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate skills and experience in the following areas:

Essential:

  • Research and/or consulting experience in road asset management and asset systems / software
  • Expertise in modelling asset performance (deterioration and operation), understanding and applying innovative data analysis techniques
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant national and international asset management standards
  • Knowledge of BIM standards, in the context of the strategic application in asset management
  • Experience of working with UK road sector clients such as Highways England, Transport for London, Transport Scotland, Department for Transport and Local Authorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with HDM-4 Software
  • Understanding of project management
  • A good awareness and knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental issues.

All applicants must be prepared to work flexibly and be willing to work overseas.

Qualifications

Educated to degree level or higher in a science, computing or engineering discipline. Membership of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation, Institution of Civil Engineers, Institute of Asset Management or a relevant higher degree / technical qualification would be highly desirable.

Communication Requirements

Eligible candidates should demonstrate strong English written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare high quality technical reports and present work at seminars and conferences.

Confident to communicate effectively with clients and team members at all levels of seniority.
