Senior Transport Planner - Gateshead - Up to 36k

We are proud to be working with a well-established Transport Planning and Highways Specialist who are looking to grow their Gateshead office. As a market leading Consultancy that can offer their clientele engineering expertise in all aspects of Development Transport Planning, s278/38 highways scheme design, drainage, environmental planning, implementation and operation. Situated close to Newcastle's main station they can offer you a first-class opportunity to work with clients across the residential/commercial/regeneration sector with a Consultancy that is growing in stature.

The Role

Our client is committed to supporting and inspiring their staff and are looking for a talented Transport Planner to join their team based in Gateshead. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the delivery of technical outputs and reports, maintaining excellent team standards at all times. In return they can provide you with the opportunity to experience and manage a variety of interesting and diverse projects, supporting personal and professional growth. The roles will include:

  • Preparation of detailed Transport Assessments and Transport Statements
  • Preparation of Travel Plans as well as Travel Plan Coordination
  • Preparation and presentation of technical data and drawings
  • Undertaking junction capacity assessments using ARCADY, PICADY and LINSIG
  • Liaison with clients, contractors and local / national authorities as required
  • Attendance at meetings / public consultation events as required
  • Management of small / medium sized projects
  • Provide support and guidance to junior staff within the team
  • Taking ownership of other traffic / transport related tasks as required by your Team Leader

The requirements from a skills and expertise basis

Education/ Experience:

  • Degree in applicable subject; Transport Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering
  • 2-5 years' experience of UK Transport Planning standards and processes

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced use of Microsoft Office software packages
  • Advanced understanding of spreadsheets / presentation of technical outputs e.g. traffic flows
  • Use of AutoCAD
  • Proficient use of ARCADY, PICADY and LINSIG

Competencies

  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to clearly communicate findings from complex data
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to manage own workload
  • Provide direction to junior staff on small / medium sized projects
  • Approachable and professional manner when dealing with colleagues and clients
