Leading Tier 1 contractor seeks to find an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their established team in Glasgow. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading construction company who are committed to support their staff with career development.


You will join the team as junior member of the team with a key driver of performance excellence, the Assistant Quantity Surveyor role is key to supporting the Quantity Surveyor, focusing on the capture and reporting on all aspects of cost, value and productivity.


Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to WIP management by ensuring payment applications are processed by the team and paid by the client within contractual terms
  • Assisting with the monthly CVRs by ensuring all cost and value data is collated and entered into the correct WMS
  • Analysis of WIP to identify areas where cash flow is delayed through not being able to submit payment applications. Addressing these issues or escalating to the Quantity Surveyor for the necessary action
  • Weekly reporting on key cost areas such as, but not limited to, overtime, direct labour cost, plant, fleet and material spend, fuel cost and subcontractor cost.
  • Ensuring subcontractor accounts are controlled and monitored with the data sent to the Quantity Surveyor to assist with creating monthly accruals
  • Capable of resolving application rejections from the client
  • Issuing Notice of Payments to subcontractors
  • Processing subcontractor invoices and ensuring the correct approval is obtained from the relevant stakeholders and passed to the Finance Department
  • Ensuring all outstanding contra charges are deducted to minimise exposure and risk to the business. The cost for recovery must be monitored to ensure these remains at a minimal amount


To be considered for this role candidates will have the following skills:

  • IT literate in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Capable of generating and issuing accurate reports with an understanding of the content
  • Confident leading discussions with supply chain, business stakeholders and the client to overcome problems. Competent in early stage dispute resolution
  • A professional approach to work with care and pride taken in the delivery of work to the business and client. Ensuring a high standard is maintained throughout the team
  • Very good communication, written and presentation skills
  • Able to adapt to working and coaching on bespoke IT systems
  • Capable of guiding and directing the team towards its overall objectives
