- Our client is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join a busy team on a contract basis starting soon.
As part of a bold venture to support the creation of up to 100,000 new homes, the Council has been successful in securing a £ multi-million infrastructure investment programme that will transform Oxfordshire's potential.
Due to innovative partnership working between the private and the public sector, this investment programme is expected to run until at least 2031, providing an unparalleled opportunity to immerse yourself in the heart of a county-wide challenge. And as the UK's 12th fastest-growing city, it's a challenge that we are determined to deliver on. Join us, and you will be central to making this happen.
This role sits within the Growth and Economy directorate and supports the delivery of a secured £600m+ capital infrastructure programme over the next 3-5 years.
About the role
You'll act as the professional lead for a specific-project taking the day to day lead on programme, risk and budgetary management, together with management of deliverables from the supply chain, seeking design approvals from the Council's technical teams and supporting with key stakeholder communications as directed.
We'll look to you to support the Senior Project Manager and/or Programme Lead in overseeing the delivery of a suite of major highways and transport projects through design and construction - on budget, on time and to the required quality.
The ability to forge positive working relationships with multiple stakeholders are key, particularly those who are delivering these projects on behalf of the Council. There will be a need to build and maintain rapport with key external stakeholders who can influence project outcomes, resolving issues as they arise and where appropriate escalating risks.
We're looking for significant experience developing and implementing high profile transport and highway infrastructure programmes, ideally from a public sector background. A respected project management qualification or equivalent experience is desirable and if you're a member of a professional body, even better.
In addition, you'll need a solid track record of supporting stakeholder management and communications, as well as a developed understanding of procurement and contract management processes. Experience with statutory processes related to highways infrastructure delivery would also be of significant advantage.
