The Job

Our clean water sector client is seeking a Senior Process Scientist to join their Havant based Water Quality team.

The successful candidate will provide scientific operational support to our clients' business on the operation, monitoring, optimising and investment needs of water treatment processes to ensure the delivery of high quality wholesome drinking water at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and optimise the operation of the water treatment works to ensure that the quality of drinking water meets all internal and statutory requirements
  • Undertake regular site visits to review process performance
  • Provide solutions on improving and maintaining water quality, through predicting, identifying, investigating and resolving issues on site
  • Undertake WQ process/treatment risk assessments to ensure risks to sufficiency and quality are maintained
  • Monitor, analyse and report on water quality data. Identify risks and report on anomalies and atypical trends affecting water treatment/quality and making recommendations to address these
  • Undertake investigations into the root cause of water quality compliance failures and incidents
  • Contribute to projects concerning water quality improvement
  • Provide knowledge and experience of water treatment processes to production, investment, and other business areas
  • To take part in activities to raise the profile of Water Quality process across the business
  • With others, regularly review the processes and procedures relating to water resource and production activities to ensure that they are fit for purpose
  • To comply with all policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety
  • Deliver excellent customer service when dealing with internal customers
  • Encourage proactive and effective communications to help develop and maintain professional relationships with internal customers
  • Encourage a collaborative working culture

  • To provide support to the QMS Manager and to the other members of the Project Team

Skills/experience

  • Degree or higher in relevant scientific or engineering discipline
  • Experience in a compliance and process improvement role within a highly regulated environment
  • Experience of working in Water treatment operations with an understanding of water chemistry/biology and the principles of water treatment
  • Understanding of the regulatory requirements affecting the provision of wholesome drinking water
  • Understanding of the health significance of water quality parameters and principles of water supply hygiene
  • Experience in the delivery of Water Quality process training to a range of audiences
  • Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience with appropriate Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Full UK Drivers Licence
  • Chartership is desirable
  • Member of a relevant professional body & willing to work towards Chartership is desirable

  • Salary up to £50k DOE
  • Holiday entitlement of 24 days plus bank holidays (increasing by one day a year to 29 days after 5 years. Plus 1 additional day awarded if no sick days are taken in the previous year.)
  • Pension contributions - employer will double employees contribution. ie. 5% =10%
