The Job

Our client is seeking a Risk and Resilience Specialist to join their Asset Management team based out Falmer, Brighton (flexible working considered).

This is a new specialist role accountable for the development and embedding of core risk and resilience frameworks, associated processes; the successful candidate will coach/train colleagues on these processes. The role will support the investment plans to help our client deliver a resilient water future in the South East.


  • Embed and promote change and align process development with client Enterprise Risk Management and the ISO55001 principles.
  • Design and implement methodologies in collaboration with key stakeholders (regulation, finance, investment, asset systems and data) to enable consistent identification and prioritisation of risks for resolution in alignment with the Risk Framework, including our clients' risk tolerance and appetite
  • Design & implement resilience processes and metrics in alignment with the Resilience Framework
  • Monitor and provide insight on compliance with processes and coach colleagues on the use and embedding of new Risk & Resilience processes.
  • Keep aligned with company and industry best practice in risk, resilience, asset management and investment planning to support the asset management functions in their continuous improvement journey.
  • Take ownership of the risk and resilience frameworks as well as the R&V process and ensure they are fit for purpose and kept updated.
  • Become part of a culture of health and safety, diversity, and openness in alignment with our clients' vision and behaviour framework.


  • Provide the methodology, change management and associated coaching for the consistent risk identification, scoring, analysis, prioritisation, validation and monitoring processes in line with asset management, risk and resilience frameworks.
  • Enable the development and embedding of risk proximity analysis.
  • Provide the enablers for the integrated team input to the risk and value process for a clear articulation of needs and benefits: natural capital, carbon and cost of consequence - work with the required teams collaboratively.
  • Provide the methodology change management and associated coaching to improve the asset lifecycle process, including the framework for asset risk management and asset resilience and the "risk and value" process.
  • Ensure that the approach used for managing risk and resilience in asset management is aligned with our clients approach for managing risk and deliver the performance and efficiency for AMP7.
  • Lead the development and the implementation of new processes, such as risk and value, DWMP and integrated business planning.
  • Manage and deliver the actions of the Resilience Action Plan and the Asset System and Process roadmap.
  • Ensuring the requirements of risk and resilience frameworks and ALP are translated into the OAM project and other asset management system improvements.
  • Ensuring the approach to asset management is consistent with ISO 55001 and it achieves its intended outcome.

Skills & Competencies

  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative and self-motivation.
  • High level of numeracy and literacy with attention to detail and IT skills.
  • Experience in demonstrating the ability to evaluate risks and hazards against business drivers and targets, short and long term to assess resilience.
  • Evidence of developing and passionately communicating with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to facilitate and challenge discussions.
  • Collaborates across functions and departments in the best interest of the customer within company's constraints.
  • Proven ability to meet timescales and ensure quality of output through effective organisation and prioritisation of tasks.


  • Asset Management - Experience of utility industry and asset management.
  • Regulation - Experienced understanding of regulatory framework and reporting requirements in the water industry or regulated industries.

  • Relevant management experience or professional qualification to Chartered status or equivalent.

  • Leading and coaching junior members of the team
  • Clear communicator who will work to the best of their abilities.
