The Job

Our client is looking to strengthen their Estimating team with a Senior Estimator for their @one Alliance framework based out of Peterborough.

The @one Alliance are heading into their latest Asset Management Period, known as AMP 7 and this will see them deliver a £1.4bn programme of work over the next five years.

As a new Senior Estimator, you'll be supporting the delivery of multiple projects within the AMP7 regulatory period (value over 5 years is approx.. £1.9bn). You'll ensure the business has a full understanding of the estimates incorporating the right standards of quality and safety whilst also ensuring maximum efficiencies are taken account of and that full compliance with the Alliance and Anglian Water governance procedures are followed. Immersing yourself as part of the integrated delivery teams, you'll embrace and encourage a culture of outperformance to meet our ambitious goals.


  • Main work scopes include pipelines and crossings, pumping stations and reservoirs.
  • Ensuring handover of pricing pack meets appropriate quality and standards to agree service level agreement and adhere to delivery on time requirements of the Delivery milestones.
  • Provide CAPEX Estimates appropriate to the stage of the project from high level comparative estimates for optioneering to detailed bottoms up Estimates for development of Target Costs.
  • Challenge all aspects of construction costs including Non-Construction, Risk, Overheads & record for audit via the Delivery Milestone process and affordability challenge.
  • Working with multi discipline Teams in order to understand and quantify scope.
  • Liaising with supply chain to develop estimates for specific items of scope (both vendors and subcontractors).
  • Utilise both estimating software and MS Excel to prepare the Estimate.
  • Advise where efficiencies can be made.
  • Develop cost models for those items which are repeated from site to site.


  • Engineering or QS degree
  • Significant relevant estimating experience
  • Previous experience working with-in water/wastewater pipelines and pump stations alongside experience with using estimating Software
  • Strong collaborative/communication abilities
  • Confident planner and decision maker
  • Ability to integrate with a host of teams
