An opportunity has arisen for a Fitter/Turner, based in Lowestoft.

The Job

Purpose of Job:

The Marine Fitter / turner is responsible for carrying out the work of bespoke part's or equipment machining in a busy Shipyard workshop. Work is to be delivered safely on time and within budget along utilising equipment and materials required.

Principle Duties:

Must be able to work with equipment manual lathes, radial & bench drills, bore or milling tools.

Advantageous to have knowledge & experience with marine engines, propulsion systems, pump systems, deck machinery.

The right candidate needs to be diverse & willing to work with other trades in a support level.

Be willing to train forklift, mobile access platforms, PASMA access scaffolding, Rescue teams, first aiders, tank testing, rigging / slinging methods.

In addition to the responsibilities listed above, all employees must be flexible in their approach and undertake other duties, wherever they may be, to achieve the objectives of the Company.

Qualifications/Experience:

Good communication skills including spoken and written English and must be able to communicate in a cordial manner.

Full UK driving licence.

Must be able to interpret technical drawings, schematic parts manuals and diagrams and associated technical data & specifications.

Engineering background/experience

Safety Responsibilities:

You are responsible for ensuring that you work safely and comply with all current and relevant health, safety and environmental legislation.

You are responsible to undertake activities to safe systems of work according to SMS procedures.

You must adhere to all criteria relating to the Company Substance Misuse policy.

Salary - Dependant on experience
