I am currently recruiting for 2 Manufacturing Engineers to work for an aerospace company based in Portsmouth.
One role is to focus on machining and the other on fabrication.
The ideal candidate should have served an apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline and be educated to at least HNC standard, with several years proven experience, as Manufacturing Engineer. They should be able to pick up tasks and projects immediately with the minimum of in house training and be familiar with the generation of BOM's and operators work to instructions.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of manufacturing processes and have a strong commercial awareness, as there will be a high degree of involvement with customers and suppliers at the proposal stage and during the manufacturing cycle, where they will become the focal point for customer communications.
To further improve productivity and company margins the suggestion and implementation of improvements to existing processes via investment, or adjustment to working practices, will form part of the Manufacturing Engineers remit.
It will be expected that the successful individual will be able to suggest innovative manufacturing and commercial solutions to gain the maximum competitive advantage at both the tendering and manufacturing stages.
It is a prerequisite that the individual is highly motivated; a good communicator at all levels; have a good attention to detail; able to take responsibility and offer viable solutions.
