Job description

The position requires a technical background in automotive embedded software and experience in product development. In addition, you will understand how to develop a technical and commercial offering with a customer, and how this will be delivered.

Essential Functions:

  • Leadership and management of the global embedded software function including balancing workload across the team, ensuring correct skills mix and planning support to projects
  • Development of the team including holding regular team meetings, identifying training/development needs, fostering a team working approach, recruitment, and performance reviews
  • Development of an 'Eco-partner' supplier network to provide additional flexible & low-cost resources for projects when required
  • Ensuring that agreed embedded software project deliverables are completed in a cost-effective and timely manner and that a task delivery approach is instilled within the department
  • Development and optimization of Global working processes and toolchains (e.g. Agile approach) to ensure the company remains at the forefront of best practice
  • Work closely with the Regions Delivery Teams and Global Sales teams to generate new business, providing technical expertise and supporting selling activities, maintaining links to customers for peer to peer selling
  • Work closely with the Embedded Software Delivery Lead to create new value offerings, including diversification into other industries e.g. Rail, Aerospace, Defense, and strategic partnerships with other companies
  • Delivery of Embedded SW R&D plan to deliver the products and solutions needed to take to market to show case technical pedigree and value
  • Maintain awareness of the latest technology and industry trends
  • Delivers superior levels of customer service to both internal and external customers while demonstrating core values of respect, integrity, creativity and innovation, and passion
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific, technical, or engineering subject; Master's degree strongly preferred
  • Ten years progressively more responsible experience including engineering solutions for the product from design to application in similar industries
  • Ten years extensive leadership experience; highly professional in appearance and approach; exudes expertise and credibility
  • Have knowledge and experience in several of the following areas:
  • Structured software development following a recognized process such as ASPICE
  • Development of high-integrity safety critical software to meet safety and process standards such as ISO 26262, DO178C, ASIL L1/L2/L3
  • An understanding of a software layered architecture such as AUTOSAR
  • Good understanding of single and multi-core microcontroller architectures
  • Development tools including compilers, debuggers, network analysis and testing tools
  • Model Based Design: development concepts & toolchain
  • Cybersecurity & Crypto services (E2E mechanism)
  • OBD implementation, diagnostic monitoring & sensor/act management
  • Hybrid and EV controllers: Motor Control, Inverter, DCDC, BMS and Charging software
  • Experience in technical project leadership, program management and team coordination
  • Excellent communication and leadership qualities, a high standard of written and spoken English
  • An ability to collaborate and influence, you will work well with internal and external stakeholders
  • An analytical and strategic thinker, you will have the ability to develop and present balanced, insightful conclusions to stakeholders
  • Knowledge of business finance systems and processes
  • Well organized, with the ability to plan and deliver independently
  • Flexible in work approach and prepared to meet client demands which may involve travel to our global customers.
