Senior Digital Design Engineer - 6 month contract - Portsmouth - Rate: Open to negotiations (Inside IR35)

Role description:

This is a technical role relating to the Digital aspects of hardware design. You will apply a breadth of design expertise and knowledge to generate predominately digital design solutions for both new products and technology insertions into legacy products.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Detailed digital circuit design including component selection, evaluation, simulation, schematic capture, and preparing guidance for PCB design teams.
  • Design verification using a combination of simulation, analysis, and test techniques including support to EMC test houses and customer installations.
  • Generate design documentation and technical reports.
  • Interfacing with related disciplines including EMC, systems engineering, mechanical/thermal engineering, Integrated Logistics Support, Safety, Product Data Management, and manufacturing areas.
  • Adherence to Engineering Lifecycle and contributing to progress, peer, and design reviews.
  • Take an active role in technical team meetings
  • Assist in the development of higher level system designs as necessary
  • Assist in the development of technical requirement specifications
  • Support system integration activities

What we are looking for in you:

  • A degree in Electronic Engineering or strongly related subject.
  • Experience of generating component level PCB designs for introduction into volume production.
  • Experience of board-level digital design including processor interfacing, memory devices, PLD interfacing etc.
  • Experience of design proving, integration, and defect resolution.
  • Experience of gathering of evidence to support acceptance, fitness for purpose, legislative requirements, and safety.
  • Able to estimate and work within cost and timescales constraints.

Desirable skills:

  • Experience of ADC/DAC devices and techniques
  • Knowledge/experience of DSP techniques
  • Experienced in digital interface techniques such as UARTs, SPI, I2C, Ethernet etc.

Additional:

  • Duration: This contract is likely to be extended to 12 months and there is opportunity for this role to get permanent
  • Hybrid working: There is requirement to be on site in Portsmouth during integration and test design phases
  • Security requirements: SC

This role will require you to hold or be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC). You will need to obtain a Criminal Record Check and you must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship and have lived and worked in the UK for a minimum 5 year period. The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs).
