Job description
Our client are rapidly becoming a key contractor in the UK fibre telecommunications sector, focusing specifically on FTTP/FTTH network infrastructure installation and upgrade projects.
About the job:
- Identify and develop a regional supply chain to suit the demand
- Outsource, tender and negotiate subcontractor agreements for all project works and assist the PMO team with the contract management, if required
- Provide procurement advice to the PMO team
Responsibilities:
Pre Contract:
- To develop an accredited and structured trade specific supply chain that is aligned with the regional business demand and overall strategy
- To consistently monitor the trade specific market place to ensure awareness of pricing trends, risks and opportunities.
- To work closely with the PMO team and assist them with the procurement project needs
- To compile information from the Design and PMO teams and prepare the tender packages
- To manage the tender process (identify supply chain, issue ITT and RFQ packs, review tender returns, organize and lead negotiations, provide review and advice to directors)
- To demonstrate best overall value for money in the procurement recommendations
- To draft contracts and issue for signature
- To carry out the supply chain pre-qualification process and to ensure the supply chain is compliant with requirements
Post Contract:
- To file signed contracts, ensuring that any amendments to the contract have been approved by all parties
- To organize and attend supply chain audits, facility and factory visits
- To review, terminate or renew contracts as per the business needs
- To monitor the supply chain performance, workload and financial status to protect the corporate position
- To assist the PMO and the supply chain in case of issues related to performance, payments, compliance etc.
Reporting:
- To produce an updated monthly Tender Event Schedule and project Procurement Report for each project
- In conjunction with the Quantity Surveyor to produce the monthly Commercial Report in time for the Production Meetings.
- To attend the Group Procurement meetings to discuss procurement progress
- To assist with the preparation of contract target margin report
The job holder will be required to undertake such flexible and additional working hours as may be necessary, within reason, to facilitate the efficient fulfilment of the duties required by position.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience, and qualifications:
Essential:
- 3 -5 years' experience in a similar procurement role
- Infrastructure Telecom, civil works, utilities, construction industry experience in a main contractor
- Computer literate and Word and Excel advanced skills
Desirable:
- Degree level
- CIPS or working towards
