We have an exciting opportunity for Control Systems Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team who are working at the cutting edge of transformer design and leading game-changing technology development.
You will have exciting opportunities in new product development from concept generation to detailed design and prototype build, through to deployment on grid and series production. You will also contribute on technical problem solving and continuous product improvement. You will work as part of focused team, often operating with significant autonomy whilst guided by established policies, towards successful outcomes.

The successful candidate will have a solid background in control systems theory, along with experience of practical implementation, statistical analysis, process modeling, and systems optimization. The candidate will be accountable for testing and validation of developed control systems during FAT and deployment on site. The candidate will also support development for the necessary trackside and testing simulation tools.

This is your role:

  • Regular travels to supplier facility in Northern Ireland and customer sites in the south of England for FAT and Commissioning
  • Create specifications for Distribution control systems installation and configuration based on defined requirements
  • Modify and upgrade Distribution control systems
  • Providing support to the design team in carrying out FATs on the Distribution control systems
  • Responding to both remote and on the field maintenance activities
  • Specifying installation details and developing datasheets for communication infrastructure e.g., Fibre optics, modems, network switches etc.
  • Configuration and specification of equipment such as control panels, analysers, meters and automation systems
  • Contribute to architecture and design decisions for each client/project
  • Assist project manager with resource planning, estimates, timeline estimations, and day?to-day project planning
  • Participate in an effort to clean up/standardize the implementation process thereby allowing the team to handle increasing demand with better efficiency
  • May assist with multiple teams and projects ensuring that project goals are achieved according to project plans, and in accordance with project priorities.
  • Consistently communicate progress, obstacles, and growth opportunities to team management
  • Engage in regular and periodic reviews with the supervisor and be responsive to feedback
  • Complete continuing education and renew licensing/certification
  • Actively participate on software and hardware development as needed
  • Document activities in common collaborative environment
  • Complete other duties as assigned



What we are looking for:

  • Knowledge and experience in control system engineering
  • 2-5 years' experience as a Control Systems Engineer or Communication Systems Engineer
  • Degree in Control systems engineering or related technology field
  • Knowledge and experience working with Programmable Logic Controllers hardware and software
  • Knowledge and experience in the development and maintenance of Distribution Control Systems
  • Experience in any of the Control system, Power Systems domains
  • Understanding and experience in the installation and configuration of communication infrastructure e.g., Fibre optics, modems, network switches etc.
  • Strong/Good knowledge in fundamental Electrical Engineering
  • Understanding of embedded architecture and communication protocols
  • Understanding of software development
  • Experience with identification of cost reduction opportunities
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrated skill acting as a team player across multiple teams within the entire enterprise
  • Understands and displays a passion for customer intimate methodology
  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Uses technology, resources and time efficiently. Learns quickly and applies current information to appropriate tasks
  • Fluent in English
  • Must be proficient in common software office applications
  • Valid driver's license

Location: The team is based in Edinburgh - UK. The role requires regular travels to Northern Ireland for FAT and witness testing. The expectation is to be in the office at various stages throughout the various project lifecycles to aid in collaboration however remote working can be expected at times
