Job description

POSITION PURPOSE

Plans and coordinates detailed phases of the engineering activities for part of a major project of a total project of moderate scope.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Conducts engineering activities of advanced scope or degree of difficultly. This could include medium - large components/system, processes associated with a medium or large project.

Performs assignments independently with limited supervision as to expected results.

Performs assignments independently troubleshooting tasks as related to product problems.

Oversees design testing.

Prepares documentation associated with engineering activities.

CAD and design work as necessary

Conducts testing for assigned projects.

Determines resolution of advanced/complex technical issues as needed and assures that technical work meets specified requirements.

Contributes to corrective action development and alternatives.

Understands and follows requirements of SOPs.

Coaches and develops entry level engineers by sharing knowledge and best practices.

Engage others, promote, and participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION, SKILL AND/OR COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

Education Required

Scientific University Degree (BS degree) required

Education requirements can be obtained through an educational institution or gained through equivalent work experience.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

4 year degree in engineering or similar. 5-8 years of experience or 3-6 years with an advanced degree. Applies extensive technical expertise in the engineering field and has full knowledge of other related disciplines (GPM, GQR, Sales and Ops).

Impact and Scope

* Contributes to the completion of technical tasks. Errors in judgement may cause significant loss in terms of project delays, resources, etc.

* Impacts project completion dates and product launch dates. Failure to meet project time lines will result in lost opportunity costs and sales revenues.

Planning and Decision Making

* Works under only general supervision, with direction given only in terms of broadly stated objectives and desired outcomes.

* Continuously reviews project team progress and evaluates results accordingly. Independently plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of the assigned project.

* Engineering Manager provides weekly guidance on project activities.

* Operates with a significant amount of latitude and freedom. Within these minimal constraints, may lead medium to large projects; plans and authorizes tests and approves test evaluations; directs and approves documentation and related drawings; designs components, parts or systems of significant difficulty; oversees/approves troubleshooting resolutions.
