The Opportunity

The Cyber Security Division has a fantastic opportunity for a Software Solutions Architect on a National scale programme. You will be providing critical information services to the whole of Law Enforcement.

You will join a vibrant team working primarily remotely from home, with a base site of Bristol and meeting regularly in London.

You will be a senior member of an Integrated Project Team providing technical leadership, commercial input and engineering pragmatism to ensure the project delivers to its goals. The role will allow for exposure to different technologies.

You will work hand in hand with the programme manager, engineering manager and test manager to ensure the technical team are undertaking the required activities, risk is appropriately managed and the operational service is stable. You will also lead on the definition of future releases, working collaboratively with both the end users and the product software delivery team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of ANPR data analysis technologies, both in the UK and internationally.

Experience of very high performance very large scale analytic processing is of great benefit, but prior knowledge of ANPR technology is not required.

Key responsibility areas:

  • Work alongside internal and external stakeholders to understand user needs and requirements with which to define and influence system requirements and designs, ensuring suitable routes to compliance, certification, and acceptance.
  • Assess system design maturity and compliance against system requirements across the engineering lifecycle, leading design review activities with independent technical authorities.
  • Provide oversight for verification and validation activities to fully test system performance, usability, and effectiveness.
  • Develop and deliver engineering specifications, reports and presentations for delivery to customers and industry partners.
  • Maintain key documentation including solution design artefacts.
  • Support the programme management team with planning, risk management and resourcing.

What should you be able to do?

  • Oversee the design and development of software architectures within Agile development process and support integration into the Customers platform environments.
  • Oversee and direct performance engineering activities applying your broad knowledge of compute, storage, applications, platform to debug and troubleshoot this very high performance analytics system.
  • Collaborate with the product development team to design new product features, improve existing features and resolve defects.
  • Identify and promote relevant technologies and methodologies as part of your ongoing personal development and coach and mentor others.
  • Build and maintain robust professional relationships with outstanding communication skills, working with customers and partners.
  • Deliver within strict deadlines and to budget, whilst managing conflicting workloads and priorities.

  • Extensive experience of delivering complex, integrated high performance, large scale software solutions

  • Good computer literacy, including all Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft Project
  • Awareness of other functions/function roles
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, with evidence of strong communication and negotiation skills
