Specifically, I am recruiting for a Bid Manager to join my clients team working on a range of new business campaigns specifically with their government & defence customers on both complex UK & international programmes.

You will play a leading role in delivering winning bids, working with opportunity owners and the wider business in shaping customer requirements and developing their capture plans, win strategies and price to win.

The role of the Commercial Bid Team is to support the achievement of the bid's financial/strategic objectives, to ensure compliance with ethical and contractual undertakings and to ensure the commercial integrity of commitments being made.

This is a highly networked role, linking business winning with business delivery and requires an ability to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines.

JOB SCOPE:

Reporting into the Head of Commercial, and working on a variety of tenders. The individual must demonstrate having experience of delivering tender responses/commercial bids, in particular within the public sector, preferably to the UK MOD. Plus a strong track record in managing the creation of bid responses to tight timescales, planning and managing inputs from different stakeholders and third parties developing and improving content, capturing lessons learnt and providing written content that resonates with potential customers and wins opportunities.

The role will encompass a broad range of interactions, with both internal and external stakeholders, and will include the provision of guidance, assistance, technical and commercial inputs (including development of the pricing model) and negotiation support.

The Commercial Bid Manager will have a primary responsibility for providing bid, commercial knowledge and support, acumen, and advisory service across all departments within the business

The post holder shall support bid activities across other business area's as and when required as directed by the Head of Commercial.

KEY ATTRIBUTES:

  • Previous professional experience ideally gained within the Defence industry or within a similar international and interdisciplinary
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of bid process
  • Can demonstrate effective bid writing skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Knowledge of UK MoD terms of contracting DEFCONS &
  • Excellent knowledge of document management
  • Experience of bidding to and managing contracts in the UK and international defence and security
  • Pragmatic and commercially alert - effective at identifying and assessing risk, mitigations, and risk
  • Creative problem solver who is detail
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work activities and resources for the benefit of multiple key
  • Ability to motivate a team, who is a strong communicator, both in writing and verbal with the ability to adapt communication style to fit target audience.
  • Experienced in the use of the Microsoft Office suite especially Word, Excel, and
  • Independent-minded, structured and organised whilst being flexible and adaptable as the requirement
