Our water sector client is seeking 2 permanent GIS Specialists based out of their Havant office.
You will be delivering a high level of customer service to internal departments, developers and contractors. Based in the GIS team, this is a development role and would be suit someone who is looking to develop or further their career in the water industry.
Responsibilities
- Visiting Construction Sites to survey the location of new and renewed water mains and produce 'as laid drawings' from the surveys.
- Interpret and capture information, attribute and compile digital data to defined specifications, ensuring drawings are appropriate, checked and meet the excepted levels of technical quality.
- Day to day administration, update and maintenance of geo-databases and other asset systems, investigation and resolution of issues, liaising, with internal stakeholders when required.
- Maintain the integrity of the Geographic Information Systems, managing the data, supply and distribution of all information in support of Portsmouth Waters needs and objectives.
- The manipulation and update of network records and asset databases, using Geographic Information Systems and other corporate systems.
- Maintenance, update and distribution of external special datasets, to include the development of automated processes supporting data update and water treatment / distribution operations.
- Investigation of datasets to recommend changes to improve data quality.
- Carrying out quality checks, ensuring attributes are completed and correct documentation is provided.
- Updating datasets, following business processes and procedures.
- Continuous improvement of the delivery support process.
- Support design team and production of multi-utility design plans for internal and external stakeholders.
- Preparing data for project teams from initial stages through to completion, liaising with project teams and third parties to resolve issues.
Qualifications/experience/desirables
- Self-motivated with the ability to work efficiently, accurately and methodically along with a good attention to detail.
- Good communication, verbal, written and numerate skills.
- A proactive approach to Health and Safety.
- Passionate about career development within the water industry and delivering excellent customer service
- A driving licence would be desirable
- Willing to develop skills in the areas of GIS and/or AutoCAD along with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and the operation of specialist databases
