Job description
This role will support the Operations Director, HSES Director, and Contract/Project Senior Teams to deliver continued Environmental protection and sustainability improvements. You will drive performance of the relevant contract/project in terms of Environment and Sustainability ensuring efficient and effective service and support levels to meet and where possible exceed operational requirements. The role will be involved in leading on environmental planning for the project.
This role has 5 direct reports and will see you liaising with a variety of key stakeholders. The accountabilities will also include:
- Providing advice, support and direction to project base, contract/project management team and ES Advisors to enable them to support project teams to deliver Environmental protection and sustainability improvements
- Building and strengthen project ES teams through PDRs, coaching and mentoring.
- Undertaking ES compliance evaluations, inspections and audits at prescribed intervals record outputs and liaise with site management to ensure actions are completed.
- In conjunction with project base, contract/project management team, carry out project and business sector HSE performance reviews using lagging and leading indicators.
- Monitor, collate and interpret ES performance data including close out of inspection and investigation reports, and provide management reports on a routine basis.
- Work winning and bid support for business as required.
- Support local management in their liaison with clients, contractors and environmental regulators by attending meetings and other events such as working groups.
The following qualities/experience are preferred:
- A relevant degree or equivalent in an environmental discipline
- Appropriate IEMA level or equivalent professional membership
- The individual will be comfortable managing small teams
- Thorough working knowledge of current environmental legislation
- Strong working knowledge of the construction sector
- Experience in writing documentation for compliance or supporting bid
- Demonstrated successful capability in effective communication skills at all levels, ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation and competent in producing reports
- Professional and pragmatic team player who can build and sustain effective working relationships
- Strong business awareness, employee focus and attention to detail
- Programme management experience with a structured approach to organising and documenting progress
On offer is a salary of 45-55k DOE + car or car allowance
