Overview:

The Senior Design Test Engineer will be joining an established Engineering business, who have a portfolio of specialist capabilities, generating highly differentiated solutions and products by applying electronic, mechanical, and software technologies in demanding and critical environments to meet customer needs.

The Senior Design Test Engineer will use technical expertise and knowledge of computer simulation technologies to test the performance, durability and functionality of engineering solutions in a virtual environment. You will also perform testing in real time environments to support product qualification.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

• Define requirements necessary to fulfil customer specification.
• Develop top-level Product Architecture for development and Validation and develop and implement validation techniques and processes.
• Develop suitable mechanical designs with BOMs that satisfies Test Equipment requirements, capabilities and performance.
• Develop suitable electronic designs with BOMs that satisfies TE requirements, capabilities and performance and conversant with test equipment design, analysis, and test techniques for complex electronic systems.
• Develop suitable software program (LabVIEW) that satisfies TE requirements, capabilities and performance.
• Able to read drawings and build Test Equipment in line with IPC standards, and capable of taking ownership of TE build phase, including overseeing build schedule and other individuals tasks.
• Ability to integrate and verify some TE hardware and SW and debug issues and implement solutions
• Deliver individual tasks on time and budget to the desired quality standard, and conversant with appropriate standards and processes within area
• Capable of leading a small team/ project where possible.

Experience needed:

• Ideally qualified to degree-level or equivalent experience in a Physics or Engineering based subject, such as; Electronics, Hardware, Computer Science, Software or Systems Engineering etc.
• Electronics Design and Test experience (Analogue & Digital interface circuit design)
• Define requirements necessary to fulfil customer specification.
• Good communication skills both verbally and in writing

Desirable:

• Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous
• Software development experience with any of the following (C, LabView, TestStand, HTBasic, CVI)
• Experience with the design of test equipment. Any experience with ATE (racks grounding/racks thermal management/ PXI or PCI test equipment technology) is highly desirable.
• Mechanical aspects of electronic design or electrical wiring
• Power supplies specifications and operation
• EMI/Lightning filtering and signal protection techniques
• Instrument control methods (GPIB, RS232, USB, Ethernet)
