Job description

Important: All applicants must be able to obtain Security Clearance, and as a minimum be living in the UK 5 years. .

Hybrid working pattern: Where possible, we will seek to accommodate a blended approach to on-site and remote working - typically this may be two days a week on site.

An opportunity has arisen within the Electronic Engineering function for someone to lead the UK Component Engineering team. The team provide specialist advice and guidance on suitable components to use in our products. Not only do they look after electronic components, but they are also responsible for electrical and mechanical components too.

The Team Lead is a diverse role, not only will you be providing line management to the team but you will also be providing advice to our internal customers about the services we can provide.

Components are a global hot topic at the moment and we are looking for someone to also engage with senior leaders within the business about the market trends and mitigation factors the team have put in place.

You will also work as part of the international team to help define best practice and manage the adoption and adherence of agreed methodologies.

Experience needed:

  • Ideally qualified to degree-level or equivalent experience in a Physics or Engineering based subject, such as; Electronics, Hardware, Computer Science, Software or Systems Engineering etc.
  • Engineering background in Electronics, Hardware or related background
  • Experience of working collaboratively with other engineering disciplines.
  • An appreciation of components and the effects of obsolescence.
  • Excellent time management skills and a strong drive to deliver to schedule.
  • Ability to travel to other UK sites.
  • An engineering appreciation is beneficial for some aspects of the role, but a passion, focus, drive and vision to lead a team to deliver successfully is most important.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous
  • Experience of leading a small team would be an advantage, but not mandatory as there will be the opportunity for development.
