Plater Fabricator - BAE Systems - 18-24 Month Contract - Portsmouth Naval Base- £17.14ph - £30.94ph PAYE or £22.28ph - £37.37ph UMB (Inside IR35)
The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.
Clearance Requirements & Eligibility
This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a Criminal Record Check. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC and you must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship and have lived and worked in the UK for a minimum 5 year period. Job Description
Required to:-
* Understand and follow written and/or oral instructions
* Understand and follow health & safety arrangements
* Interpret and work from drawings and guidance as required
* Have all the basic hand skills, i.e. burning & chamfering of various gauges and types of plate.
* Tack welding and short run fillet welding (Training/Qualification can be provided)
* Accurate marking off using measuring tools, being familiar with the use of straight edges, sprit levels, set squares, chalk/string lines, plumb bobs etc.
* Ability to use a Dumpy level and laser plane level
* Correct use of grinders and associated consumables whilst adhering to the HAVS regulations
* Experience in use of strong-backs and fairing aids to prevent distortion.
* Bending and forming of various gauges and types of plate
* Have and understanding of Q.C inspection or process experience
* There may be occasions when you would be asked to work/travel outside of the main location
General information
Operations division are involved in the repair and refit of both Royal Naval and Commercial vessels. The majority of the work will be completed on-board ships either moored alongside or in dry docks with the remaining work being performed in various workshops throughout the dockyard.
Staff must have a good understanding of plate work and be able to demonstrate the various techniques used in ship repair industry. Ideally suitable candidates should have an understanding of health and safety regulations involving hotwork and confined spaces.
They must be flexible, hardworking and punctual and be prepared to work in a team to provide a high quality service to meet customer expectations.

Local = Live within 39miles of the Portsmouth Naval Base
Non Local = Live 39 miles outside of the Portsmouth Naval Base
Local PAYE - Standard Shift - £17.14 - Early Shift - £19.71 Back Shift - £21.43 - WSO - £24.75 - Sunday - £30.94
Local UMB - Standard Shift - £22.28 - Early shift - £25.55- Back Shift - £27.74 - WSO - £27.96 - Sunday £34.83
NON Local PAYE - Standard Shift- £23.59 - Early Shift £26.16 - Back Shift £27.88 - WSO £24.75 - Sunday £30.94
