Job description

Project Manager - Steel/ Rail
Our client one of the largest constructional steelwork companies in the UK have tasked us to find a Project manager with steel structural and rail experience.
Reporting directly to the Divisional Director you will be responsible and accountable for all aspects of project delivery including safe, profitable, defect free completion of projects allocated by the Business. Application and management of the Contract including the submission of all required notices and programmes.
Management, direction and coordination of all project activities carried out by the Company and its sub-contractors, with particular focus on commercial outcome, risk reduction, health & safety to achieve the on and off-site requirements of the project.
Successful completion of the project on programme, within budget, defect free including agreement of project final account/s.

Roles and Responsibility

  • Understand the Subcontract under which we are engaged and ensure that we comply with all its requirements.
  • Ensure that the works are programmed in detail to anticipate potential risk and critical areas and provide performance related commercial opportunity.
  • Create, update & issue the Contract Programme.
  • Plan project procurement to deliver the project programme including the proper & timely appointment of suppliers and sub-contractors, within budgets, and with correct order documentation and administration.
  • Lead internal co-ordination meetings & ensure actions are completed.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and organisation on your projects.
  • Ensure sub-contractors supply sufficient resources to meet the outputs identified in the programme, monitor, and record the outputs and ensure that proper and timely valuations/withholding notices are issued.
  • Ensure the proper and timely completion of all records required under our quality, environmental and safety systems.
  • Working with and supported by the Commercial Manager, to ensure the proper management
  • and issue of contractual notices and approvals.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with the client, client's staff and client's professional team to promote future opportunities for repeat business and minimise client and project issues.
  • Ensure status reports are issued to the Client.
  • Ensure monthly applications for payment and sub-contractor valuations are issued and agreed by our Commercial Manager to required deadlines.
  • Ensure accurate monthly CVA's are prepared and issued by the Commercial Manager.
  • When requested, support bid manager in the preparation of high-quality tenders and assist in securing new orders.
  • Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant management information in regular written and verbal reports as required.
  • Liaise and attend meetings and other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid the business and organisational development.

  • Attendance at sales meetings with consistent and accurate reporting as required by the business.
  • Production of monthly business development report to include:
  • Report against all agreed targets
  • Identification of future market and product opportunities
  • Manage, co-ordinate & submit PQQ's
  • Attend & be actively involved in Group BD Meetings
