Job description
As the Safety Manager you will be responsible for over seeing the HSQE standards across the project and ensuring all protocols are adhered to with the safety of the workforce being a priority. Having a strong railway H&S background is essential and ideally the right candidate will have worked on large railway infrastructure projects previously The successful candidate will need:
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- Experience in H&S management including understanding of legislation, issues, policies, procedures and practicalities within the rail infrastructure or construction industry.
- Competent in assessment techniques such as fatigue, health & capability assessments.
- Experience in Behavioural based safety, health & wellbeing techniques.
- Competent in development and delivering training and workshops for all levels of staff.
- Highly proficient in use of Office applications: Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint
- Good collaborative and interpersonal working skills, good communication at all levels.
- Sentinel qualification (PTS as a minimum)
As the safety manager, responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing HSQE management for the project in all areas
- Ensure all H&S rules are being adhered to and implemented
- Ensure that all accident, incidents, and significant close-calls and near misses are reported, investigated and that all lessons learnt from investigations, are understood and changes implemented
- Manage and maintain all data from monitoring systems and collate information against standards and H&S KPIs.
- Ensure that close calls and safety conversations are raised by operational staff, reminding appropriate managers to investigate and close out open close calls.
- Conduct risk assessments, including health-related personal, workplace and activity risk assessments as required
- Work with all suppliers to ensure all safety standards are maintained
- Monitor, access and report on NWR H&S standards and ensure fatigue management is closely monitored.
