Job description

JOB SCOPE:

The Project Engineering Manager is required to primarily work on projects that require product development within the business. You will be expected to manage all aspects of these projects including project definition, project delivery and stakeholder management. A close liaison with Projects, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Customer Services, Quality and Accounting departments within the Company will be required to fulfil this task.

The PEM will be responsible for:

  • Engineering Management of product development programmes.
  • Ensuring that projects are delivered to time, cost and quality.
  • Ensuring that the company engineering lifecycle is adhered to (including tailoring as appropriate).
  • Identification of areas of risk in programme execution and implementation of measures to reduce these.
  • Liaison with all other departments within the business and sub-contractors, to ensure efficient development and production of equipment to internal customers' requirements and delivery to agreed timescales.
  • Reporting of general progress and financial status of programmes managed on a monthly basis.
  • Facilitating the resolution of engineering problems.


JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Estimate project engineering management costs.
  • In conjunction with the subject matter experts ensure that engineering solutions are appropriately expedited.
  • Coordination and generation of project statement of works and the estimates associated with their delivery.
  • Communicate programme details and initiate programme activity by departments throughout the business.
  • Coordination and drive of the project delivery teams (including suppliers).
  • Monitoring and reporting of progress, spend and schedule.
  • Monitoring and reporting of risks and opportunities.
  • Stakeholder management.
  • Travel within the UK and overseas may be required, and is considered an occasional feature of this role. Requests to travel could be made at short notice.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Qualified to degree level within an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience within an Engineering development environment
  • Experience of running Engineering Development Projects from conception to implementation
  • A good knowledge of project management techniques and processes and their application to engineering development.
  • A good understanding of the Engineering Lifecycle process.
  • Ability to manage an engineering development team (including subcontract inputs)
  • Ability to manage and record budgets / spend and provide forecast information
  • Ability to present to Senior Management
  • Risk/Opportunity management and mitigation.
  • Financially and Commercially aware
  • Self-motivated individual with a "can do" attitude.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to visit Customer or Supplier sites in the UK or overseas
  • Knowledge of MS Project
