Job description

Quantity Surveyor with experience of working on rail projects for main contractors or sub-contractors, required to join a leading rail contractor on a contract basis (OUTSIDE IR35) to be based in their office in Warrington.

You will work closely with a Commercial Manager and Senior QS to deliver a wide variety of dynamic and different projects valued from £100k - £5million based all around the UK.

As Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for:

  • Production of monthly accounting, costing, contract, management and financial information on a timely basis for inclusion in the monthly accounts package.
  • Analysis of Contractual terms and conditions for Main Contracts and Subcontracts and identify measures for risk mitigation
  • Briefing the Project Manager on the bill of quantities, specification and contractual implications of ongoing and new projects.
  • Liaison with the Project Managers regarding ongoing costs, current position and variations in contracts.
  • The monitoring of costs against tender/contract specifications and agreements. Advising the Commercial Manager immediately of any major problem areas.
  • Liaison with Clients giving and receiving costing information with regard to ongoing contracts, notifying clients using the appropriate methods of any variations to cost or specification and gaining the relevant authorisation. Raising any variation orders or claims as appropriate. Ensure timely collection of cash.
  • Ensuring the Company's contractual obligations with regard to cost control are met, using the appropriate standards and methods.
  • The development of new and follow-up business including the provision of quotes for minor works.

To be considered for the role, candidates must have experience of working within the rail industry for a main contractor or sub-contractor. You will have worked with contract such as NEC form of contract and bespoke ones.
