Job description
The Senior Engineer - Systems will be responsible for the day-to-day identification of technical issues and for supporting their appropriate resolution throughout the product lifecycle, including change embodiment activities.
CORE DUTIES
The following activities are typical of the work that may be carried out in full or part dependent on the role and the place the project is in the engineering lifecycle
Support the development of design solutions to agreed time, cost and quality in accordance with project or business milestones
Support the development and management of requirements specific to a system or product and/or across a system of systems, platform or programme
Ensure compliance against contractual requirements and that work is undertaken in accordance with company, safety, environmental, contractual and local business processes, standards, procedures and documentation
Ensure design proving evidence is comprehensive, captured within the requirements management tools and has been endorsed by the appropriate level of authority.
Understand the contractual and performance requirements for various systems, and support the definition and associated acceptance criteria and events through design, build, integration, installation and commissioning activities.
Review relevant supplier documentation and ensure it is captured and recorded appropriately
Support the development of estimates for the scope of work and resources required to deliver it in order to support bids, proposal development and project planning activities for various systems.
Provide technical support to integrated performance and acceptance activities, including acceptance of equipment from suppliers through to system acceptance by the customer
Work with various engineering teams to improve own levels of domain knowledge and subject matter expertise.
SUBJECT KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of Systems Engineering process and practices in the defence, maritime or closely linked industry and the correct recognition of the context of their work within the overall product an academic basis underpinning the discipline
Knowledge of the engineering lifecycle with experience of operating in the phase relevant to the role and awareness of the entire engineering lifecycle
Knowledge of relevant engineering standards, including safety and environmental regulations
The correct recognition of the context of their work within the overall product and platform/programme.
Understand the need, and have awareness of Product Safety and SHE.
Clearance Requirements & Eligibility
SC + ITAR This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a Criminal Record Check and you must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct access to ITAR Material, therefore we can only consider UK Nationals for this position.
