Job description
This role is to cover a temporary period whilst our client recruits for a permanent team member, however the suitable placement is welcome to apply for the permanent role also.
You will be part of the facilities maintenance team looking after the extensive RNLI Headquarters site in Poole.
Key Responsibilities:
* As a go-to "Multi-Skilled" site Maintenance Operative you will respond to the wide range of fabric and general maintenance requests from the Helpdesk in situations where a technical and specialised site technician is not required.
* Manage your own workload with reference to the reactive helpdesk and PPM scheduling for non-technical tasks. Proactively log work with the helpdesk, update the helpdesk with work progression and engage with the end user at all times.
* Maintain a professional standard of record keeping for documentation relating to tasks; together with all non-technical statutory documentation required to be maintained, within the scope of a multi-skilled Maintenance Operative.
* Support delivery of the RNLI Health & Safety policy and standards. Work safely, ensuring the safety and well-being of yourself, colleagues, customers, contractors and visitors.
* Make decisions within parameters set by management while also using job and workplace experience.
* Assist site team colleagues or specialist contractors with office moves, relocations, furniture provision and additional labour support where required.
* Complete site wide tasks to maintain statutory compliance, including updating of documentation within skill-set areas where specialist technical expertise is not required.
* Carry out regular system checks on the Sea Survival Centre training pool and plant room equipment, following approved pool plant training provided by the RNLI.
* Responsible for weekly checks on corridors, stairwells, roofs, lighting, Facilities department site van, being aware of hazardous items and situations; identifying anything in need of repair.
* Responsible for carrying out weekly fire alarm tests and sprinkler plant tests.
* Complete site walk rounds as scheduled, noting issues which may require follow up investigation or remedial work either by you or your technically qualified colleagues. Log issues with the Helpdesk.
* Able to meet and maintain a Manual Handling capability as required for the role.
* To be willing to engage in further training, including the updating of required job specific training.
* To become involved in other ad hoc tasks as required.
Experience Required:
Essential - Experience of building fabric repairs and an understanding of compliance gained while working within the facilities or construction sector.
Experience in one or more of the following job roles Tradesman/Handyman/General Maintenance/Fabric Repair or similar.
Full driving licence
Qualifications Required:
Desirable - Trade qualifications which demonstrate a particular capability, L8 Legionella Awareness, IPAF, PASMA, Asbestos Awareness
Working hours - Mon - Fri, 40 hours
Hourly rate - DoE -£14 - £15/h PAYE plus holiday pay. There is also the option of going Umbrella co (during the temp period, if you were to apply and be successful for the permanent position this would be salaried), Umbrella rates can be discussed at application stage
