Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week

Job profile

As Smart Programme Business Readiness Lead you will help drive our client to prepare for Smart Metering to enable the benefits for their customers. Our Smart Meter rollout is a key strategic initiative that will help us and our customers to minimise the amount of water we abstract from the environment, and the associated carbon and financial impact. This is an exciting initiative for them that is vital to driving the customer engagement and operational changes required to reduce water consumption and leakage and to enhance their customer experience.

You will be managing business change and readiness for new / enhanced business processes and capabilities to leverage Smart Metering technologies and data to drive per capita consumption reduction (tools and processes to help their customers to save water), leakage reduction (tools and processes to help them identify customer side leaks, and work with their operational teams to use Smart data in wider leakage reduction efforts) and customer Services improvements (support their people to understand Smart Metering, and embed new ways of working).

Your role will be integral in mapping affected business areas, developing detailed change impact assessments, ensuring key stakeholders understand and sponsor required changes and essentially driving internal stakeholder engagement to support project and programme delivery. Developing effective and appropriate change interventions and deliverables, ensuring that business readiness criteria and adoption activities are built in to plans and governance frameworks for change delivery, planning and deliver engaging communications to support the implementation of change programmes and working with business areas to ensure all customers, stakeholders and third parties are ready to use, support and adopt new technology platforms and business processes.

Project mission

To collect thousands of pieces of data from meters outside a customers' property - our client goes past it twice per annum to pick up a read which is used to work out the bill. What then needs to be built is a capability that can collate billions of bits of data remotely via a communications network to pick up hourly reads twice per day from that meter, and with that data they can then use it to understand the patterns of consumption and determine if there are any leaks within the property.

Apply machine learning to the data and build activity from the data eg; if the data shows there has been a low flow of water usage between 2-4 am, machine learning will distinguish that this is a continuous leak, this will then be monitored over 7 days, see if this is still happening, process will then be triggered where the customer will be notified by email/letter to advise we've noticed that there may be leak within their property.

Person specification

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Strong business change experience delivering complex initiatives.
  • Change manager / Business Change Manager / Business Readiness Manager experience.
  • Training experience (not solely a trainer).
  • A good understanding of Water Utilities & Operations (desirable).
