Job description

Role: Smart Metering Programme Capability Lead
Location: Worthing - hybrid working, ideally 1/2 days onsite per week
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week
Salary: Circa £75,000-£82,500 per annum

Job profile

In this role you will manage the key projects to design and procure our clients end-to-end Smart metering solution and the operational changes required to enable the benefits for their customers. It is a great time to contribute in laying the foundation for their mass Smart Meter rollout and integration to their core business processes - a key strategic initiative that will help them and their customers to minimise the amount of water they abstract from the environment, and the associated carbon and financial impact.

This is an exciting initiative that is vital to driving the customer engagement and operational changes required to reduce water consumption and leakage and enhancing their customers experience. Your contribution will be initially leading a small team to fundamentally engage with their clients customers in a different way and establishing enhanced levels of customer satisfaction.

Your main duties will include managing activities including requirements gathering, architecture design, solution options, procurement selection and business readiness for Smart Metering, overseeing the delivery of Operating Model changes, including the key business processes in Leakage, Customer Services, and Customer messaging on Usage.

You will also be supporting and managing the Smart Business Readiness Lead to define the business readiness and training needs to support their teams to successfully oversee those processes, guiding inputs into regulatory submissions, and cost and benefits tracking for the programme in managing the Smart Business Case.

Project mission

To collect thousands of pieces of data from meters outside a customers' property - our client goes past it twice per annum to pick up a read which is used to work out the bill. What then needs to be built is a capability that can collate billions of bits of data remotely via a communications network to pick up hourly reads twice per day from that meter, and with that data they can then use it to understand the patterns of consumption and determine if there are any leaks within the property.

Apply machine learning to the data and build activity from the data eg; if the data shows there has been a low flow of water usage between 2-4 am, machine learning will distinguish that this is a continuous leak, this will then be monitored over 7 days, see if this is still happening, process will then be triggered where the customer will be notified by email/letter to advise we' ve noticed that there may be leak within their property.

Person specification

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Extensive experience in delivering complex projects and programmes with a proven track record of Project and Programme Management delivery expertise.

• A background in assessing and supporting the development and delivery of new operating models including the identification of change impacts and plans.

• Experience working in Utilities ideally on Smart Metering other high volume data programme would be highly desirable.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at multiple level across organisations.
