We are looking for a reliable Graduate/Junior Engineer to join a growing global team which is highly committed to our customers.

Job Description

Reporting to the Analysis or Design Manager, the Engineer is responsible for supporting design office activities to develop design solutions of aerostructures. The position will be responsible for design and stress activities within the design office supporting NPI, R&D, modifications, concessions and QNs working on metallic and composite components as well as assemblies.

The position requires a basic level of knowledge of design and stress of metallic and composite aerostructures.

Role Specific

Will include but is not limited to:

  • Responsibility for delivering design and stress solutions, individually with support and through teams, on time on budget with high quality and technical integrity.
  • Deriving, modelling and presenting design solutions as part of a team.
  • Understand the principals of structures and derive appropriate analytical solutions.
  • Derive and substantiate concession and repair responses and product modifications for metallic and composite components which ensure structural integrity of an airframe product.
  • Design support to Manufacturing by clearing 'day to day' problems.
  • Work in conjunction with other technical disciplines, M&P, manufacturing and suppliers.
  • Optimise design solutions for weight and manufacturing cost.
  • Responsibility for preparing of design and stress deliverables.
  • Generate and present technical presentations and write technical reports.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and processes.
  • Able to formulate solutions to problems and demonstrate guided innovation & creativity.
  • Able to rapidly assimilate technical information and practices; quickly master the technical aspects of the job; demonstrates self awareness and desire to learn.
  • Willingly applies new technical tools and concepts under the direction of others
  • Participates effectively in a team; accountable for task execution.
  • Completes assigned tasks on time and on budget. Prioritizes and plans tasks with guidance.
  • Communicates effectively progress of tasks, highlighting issues and opportunities at the earliest opportunity.
  • Identify, communicate and highlight technical risks within tasks and effectively manage mitigation strategies.
  • Is competent at technical presentations and writing reports with guidance.

Requirements

  • Degree/HNC in Engineering or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Relevant analysis experience within an aerospace structural engineering environment, covering analysis and design of metallic and composite structures in civil or military aerospace applications.
  • Demonstration of stress analysis experience including FEA, static stress analysis, fatigue and damage tolerance analysis, residual strength, structural categorisation, load path analysis.
  • Demonstration of design solutions and modelling for metallics and composites.
  • Knowledge of metallic and composite component concession and repair solutions.
  • Displays understanding of manufacturing techniques and processes.
  • Knowledge of metallic and composite material technology, behaviour and testing.
  • Familiar with airworthiness requirements and EASA certification (Part 21, CS-25 etc).
  • Be able to produce technical reports from initial scheming to certification standards.
  • Literate with Microsoft Office tools, Excel / Word / Project.
  • The ability to work in a high-pressure environment, whilst maintaining engineering integrity.
  • Self-motivated individual, able to work from own initiative.
  • Good teamwork, communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in Nastran and Patran, Hypermesh, ISAMI, Matlab, software.
  • Experience of designing aircraft wing fibre-reinforced composite structural panels.
  • Knowledge of Catia V5 or equivalent.

Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required
