Job description
A competent Mechanical Commissioning Engineer with responsibilities for Test & Commissioning of nuclear powered submarines. To be accountable for the activities you are leading on shift & taking responsibility in becoming a Subject Matter Expert on a Test System as delegated whilst abiding with Company policy & legislation.
The role holder:
- Works with some guidance but accountable for specific tasks.
- Keeps full & accurate records of work activities carried out by using Company Systems.
- Will identify and implement continuous improvement, the transfer of best practice and the adherence to processes & procedure
- To carry out routine work with limited supervision & have an understanding of safety consequences in a high risk environment.
- Instruct & mentor less experiences members of the team within your knowledge & competency.
- Responsible for research, review & feedback of appropriate documentation to the required standard.
- Responsible for self-development and attending any mandatory training requirements.
- Responsible for delivering assigned activities in line with Company policy, procedures and legislation.
- Demonstrates and awareness of product knowledge.
- Provides technical support to new/other team members within their competencies.
- Support the control of sub-contractors as appropriate.
- Ability to supervise & coach Commissioning Engineers, trades/EMTS personnel as required.
- Knowledge of safety controls & procedures in a high risk environment.
- Understands the boundaries between Test Groups.
- Knowledge of equipment & activities required for specific tests.
- Aware of Nuclear Site/Authorisation Conditions.
- Experience with Gas, Fluid & Fire Fighting Systems.
- Understanding of Mechanical Testing and Pressure & Endurance Testing.
Skills:
- Ability to provide technical knowledge to emergent incidents.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft packages & Company specific software.
- Ability to communicate, exchange & challenge ideas effectively both verbally & in writing over a narrow of topics or within a specific subject area with technical depth.
- Collaborates with colleagues to achieve goals and objectives.
- Ability to drive planned and emergent work.
- Will identify and implement continuous improvement, the transfer of best practice and the adherence to processes & procedure.
Qualifications:
- HNC/HND or equivalent in related discipline or STEM subject.
- Completed Task Book as a Commissioning Engineer
