Job description
The Role:
The postholder will be working with a team of two CDM Principal Designers and an assistant Principal Designer on one of the most significant rail projects in the UK.
What you will be doing:
- Working closely with both Principal Designers and the assistant Principal Designer across 7 different projects, which are part of the multibillion-pound Transpennine Route Upgrade Project.
- You will support the Principal Designer to manage each projectsCDM Design Risk Register (DRR's), typical duties will include:
- Ensure high quality control standards for each risk register
- Transfer risk to external parties, internally to other disciplines and monthly from discipline registers to the overall collated project risk register
- Assist designers with understanding and cooperating with the CDM Management Plan
- Attend CDM design review meetings with the Principal Designer to learn the process and how to challenge designs in rail.
- Attend engineering meetings with the Principal Designer to understand the design status, project progress and take note of any CDM actions.
- Support the Principal Designer in creating CDM extracts at set periods to meet Network Rail Design Assurance Processes.
- Maintain trackers on excel to assist with large design team management.
- Take ownership of managing the Principal Designer document register and assist with updates and distribution of key documents such as the Principal Designer Management Plan, CDM Management Plan etc.
- Assist with implementation and training of a new software launch called Safe by BIM.
- Assist with the collation and management of quarterly Principal Designer Reports
- Manage, populate and track actions on the Principal Designers action register
- Assist with the preparation of PowerPoint slides for monthly Principal Designer reporting at programme CDM forums, Innovation and Safety forums and monthly internal reporting.
