NATS are looking for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Consultant to join them on a initial 4 month contract at their site in Fareham, Hampshire.

  • Due to the nature of the role, applicants must either hold SC Clearance or be eligible to obtain this.
  • £400 p/d Umbrella, inside IR35.
  • Hybrid working, 1-2 days a week onsite.

Job Purpose

The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Business Partner role will work closely with the Business Areas including Senior Leaders to develop and deliver a Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HS&W) agenda that closely supports the overall aims of the Directorates, Functions and wider NATS strategy.

The role will work closely and flexibly with HS&W team members, systems and processes and provide professional Health, safety and wellbeing advice and assurance into business areas and wider community projects. You will be a self-motivated team player who ensures HSW thinking, and performance is fully integrated and the impacts of any HSW programme assessed. You will help contribute to improvement projects initiated by the Function and HSW Working Group & Steering Group.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Be accountable for the effective delivery and performance of the HSW systems and process, as well as providing performance data. The primary purpose is to be a trusted Business Partner for Health, Safety and Wellbeing, to build up relationships and provide expert advice, guidance, support, training and coaching to the business to ensure best practice standards are met in Health and safety and ensure the business is compliant with our legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Manage and engage key stakeholders across different areas of business, both internally and externally, to bring effort, knowledge, skill, and capability together.
  • To work closely with the other teams to implement and maintain the business management system and undertake joint audits where possible.
  • Manage HSW observations, unsafe acts or behaviours, close calls, accidents, incidents, and deviations from agreed standards and efficiently report through the agreed communication channels to close out corrective and preventative actions.
  • Undertake any wellbeing activities as required by the business units and liaise with the Trade Unions as part of employee's consultation and involvement.
  • Support the preparation of business or investment cases
  • Collates and interprets data to provide detailed monitoring performance reports
  • Undertake independent and objective oversight of our health, safety and wellbeing processes and systems, to enable us to monitor, review and capture lessons learned as part of our continuous improvement culture.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Qualified to NEBOSH Certificate or above
  • Ideally experienced in Aviation Engineering or high hazard work and knowledge of the health and safety legislation and regulation for the Built Environment e.g., Asbestos, Legionella, Fire, CDM, Working at Height.
  • Able to demonstrate management and delivery of H&SW products and services within challenging time scales and the ability to work on their own.
  • The ability to influence and support the HSW team vision and strategy for NATS whilst working as a key member of the team ensuring delivery of compliance plans and key objectives.
  • Must be multi-skilled and possess excellent analytical and presentation skills
  • Flexible approach to working and this role does require elements of travel
