Job description

The purpose of the role is to support the development and acceptance activities for the Command & Control Sub-System for the Dreadnought submarine by providing support to the C2 Product Specialists.

Core activity

  • Maintaining System Requirements Specifications and Subsystem Technical Specifications
  • Technical management of equipment suppliers including review of deliverable documentation and participation at Design Reviews/Acceptance events.
  • Planning and supporting Verification and Validation activities both with Supplier and at Combat System Integration facilities.
  • Preparing evidence for Customer Acceptance
  • Providing regular updates on project status/progress in accordance with project specific reporting cycles.
  • To contribute to identification and rapid closure of issues emerging from all product lifecycle stages and to manage the resulting change embodiment activities.
  • To be able to access, have a clear understanding of and apply the Quality and HS&E Management System documentation e.g. Process Instructions, Workmanship Standards, Risk Assessments etc. applicable to your particular work scope and to obey all HS&E rules and control measures.

Key Accountabilities

  • Report to Principal Engineering Manger (AWS & C2) on progress of tasks.
  • Interface to the C2 Technical Authority on Technical issues.
  • Interface to Non-Functional SMEs to clarify intent and acceptance methodology of Non-Functional Requirements
  • Interface to Platform Teams to identify resolve platform integration issues
  • Interface to Suppliers on interpretation and acceptance of requirements

Qualifications/Functional Knowledge

  • Degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Experience of requirements management in DOORS.
  • Experience of Electrical/Mechanical design.
  • Broad knowledge/experience of System Engineering Lifecycle.
  • Role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of the Military or Maritime domain would be advantageous.

This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a BPSS check as part of this process. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC.

In addition, this role involves direct and/or indirect access to ITAR Material which means there are restrictions on dual nationals. Therefore, you must hold a British Nationality to apply for this role.
