Job description
Matchtech are looking for a Senior Digital Engineer for a long term contract in Stratford / Southwark, London.
- £520 per day - Umbrella
- Hybrid working model - two days in the office and 3 days remote working
- 12 month contract with opportunity for an ongoing contract
The scope of the work is across all asset types that make up the LU estate: Rolling Stock, Track, Signals, Built Environment, Station Systems and Manufacturing. We are looking for experienced railway engineers (or from equivalent industries) to join the team and increase the capacity to work on existing initiatives that are in progress, as well as developing new opportunities.
Experts (SMEs) across the Engineering and London Underground organisations to:
- Develop the scope of each opportunity
- Understand the extent of the potential business change
- What the benefits will be
- Deliver the necessary engineering outcomes to enable the business to implement the change
- Identify and evaluate any risks associated with the change and progress any engineering change through the appropriate technical assurance and governance.
Able to analyse existing business systems and processes, considering people, process, data and technology and be responsible for identifying new opportunities to deliver business efficiencies and/or modernise maintenance, develop engineering scopes of work and delivery plans to achieve the outcome, evaluate the business benefit, support implementation and any corresponding business change and risk.
Have a comprehensive understanding of business requirements throughout the operate & maintain phase of the asset lifecycle and management of emerging engineering risks which impact safety, reliability and availability. This will enable engineering solutions/change that integrate into the production / business processes deployed by the operational business whilst meeting LU's business objectives.
Have a combination of the following attributes: engineering ability including 'systems' integration, managing the co-ordination and output of multi-disciplinary engineering teams, facilitate continuous improvement, being the single point of contact for one or more projects/deliverables. You will have strong personal behaviours necessary to deliver successful outcomes; in particular: collaboration, influence & stakeholder management as the role will require extensive stakeholder engagement across internal and external organisations.
Knowledge Domain knowledge of one or more the asset types that exist on the LU network (Rolling Stock, Track, Signals, Built Environment, Station Systems). Specific knowledge of LU assets is not necessary, if equivalent knowledge has been gained from other railway organisations or equivalent industries that operate within a safety critical environment. Good commercial awareness and knowledge of business cases
Skills Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people (expert and non-expert) at all levels across the organisation and externally. Ability to influence people at all levels across the organisation and outside, including negotiating and successfully facilitating joint decision-making Ability to analyse complex data (quantitative and qualitative), draw conclusions, and produce solutions and decisions Ability to lead and motivate people at all levels, within own team and across the organisation and outside
Experience Practical experience of maintaining railway assets and their associated maintenance regimes, or from equivalent industries that operate within a safety critical environment Experience of transport system engineering, operational and commercial systems backed-up by strong aptitude for holistic & integrated thinking Experience of building relationships with, and influencing, a range of stakeholders at all levels within and outside the organisation

Experience in the operate and maintain phase of the asset life cycle, apposed to asset creation and the project world.
Experience with maintenance regimes, and optimising maintenance.
Experience with cost savings initiatives, business improvement, driving efficiency's
Experience of building relationships with, and influencing, a range of stakeholders at all levels within and outside the organisation
