Quantity Surveyor - Subcontracts / Change control
Location: Reading

Bilfinger UK is recruiting a Subcontracts Quantity Surveyor on a Nuclear Defence Project in the South Region.

KEY ACTIVITIES

  • Lead the delivery of subcontract work packages and other procurement related services as required by the project/business
  • Develop effective relationships downstream and upstream to influence successful execution of the project
  • Translate project requirements into commercial documents and work with other project members to capture technical and operational needs of the work packages
  • Develop and negotiate robust subcontracts, ensuring that the appropriate commercial protections are in place (this could include Non-disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Collateral Warranties, Parent Company Guarantees (PCGs), bonds etc).
  • Ensure risk management and mitigation strategies are in place when entering into Subcontract agreements, identifying solutions and executing them so that risk does not mature.
  • Contract administration downstream and upstream
    1. Maintain all required contract documentation
    2. Review and assess subcontract change notices
    3. Prepare, submit and manage through to approval Change Notices under the contracts
    4. Assessing Payment applications
    5. Working with others/other departments to ensure contractual obligations are executed
    6. Preparing and reporting on Subcontract/Project Cost and Value Reports
    7. Reporting on forecast costs of all Subcontract packages


Strong background in dealing with commercial issues required
UK security clearance is required for this role (UK citizens only)

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Financial & Commercial experience of projects and/or term contracts are required in order to fulfil the requirements of this position
  • Must have contract administration experience working with NEC suite of contracts; Ideally NEC 3/4 Options A, C and E
  • Experience in dealing with operational and project teams
  • M&E background preferred
  • Extensive experience working within a contracting or customer commercial role (5+ years)
  • CEMAR and SAP experience desirable
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent
  • Membership in a professional body e.g RICS (preferred)
