Job description
Position Summary
The Interface Engineer will be located at the site project office in Edmonton Alberta, for the Edmonton Valley Line Stage 1 Light Rail Project. The primary responsibilities will be ensure proper integration of the electrical and mechanical (E&M) Systems (signaling, overhead contact system, traction power, and communications subsystems) work with the infrastructure scope being provided by Design Build Consortium Partners. The Interface Engineer will be required to develop equipment layouts with the various E&M subsystem engineers, to document the interfacing requirements for construction and civil works, to review and comment on civil/structural designs, and to prepare field installation drawings with the E&M subsystem engineers.
This position requires knowledge of Civil/Architectural and E&M scope, as well as experience in the coordination of interfaces.
- Develop, write and publish interface documents, to control the interface between Civil and E&M scope.
- Review of Civil/Structural/Architectural Drawings to ensure the contents of the D/CIM requirements have been addressed
- Lead meetings between Civil representatives and BT E&M Engineers to ensure interfaces are properly developed and addressed.
- Liaise with E&M engineers to develop requirements for civil provisions, such as conduits and cable routing, mounting requirements, etc.
- Update and prepare installation drawings for various E&M subsystems.
Qualifications
- Education required: Engineering Degree in Civil/Mechanical, Registered Professional Engineer in Province of Alberta, Canada
- Number of years of experience required 5+
- Technical skills/knowledge (if required): Civil/Architectural/Electrical/Mechanical design of Light Rail systems, guideway & passenger stations. General knowledge of E&M scope of signaling, traction power, communications subsystems, and overhead contact catenary system.
- Traveling: Required - Civil interface will typically be on the project site, but may require infrequent travel to Kingston, Ontario office for design reviews, and travel to DB Partner design offices [Ontario/New York]
