Job description

Our Software, Electronics and Controls Centre of Excellence - Aerospace currently have an opportunity for a Senior Engineer - Electronics Design for aircraft fuel and hydraulic systems solutions. Based at our site in Hampshire.

Excellent organizational & communication skills are of particular importance, as the role will involve working across the business, with various engineering groups alongside the analogue, power electronics, controls and electromagnetics design engineers and associated product teams to develop motor control solutions for various motors including but not limited to brushless DC, AC and brushed DC.

Responsibility includes execution of project actions spanning from concept development, detailed design, development test, requirements verification and in service specialist electronics support for failure investigation and troubleshooting of electronic products. The successful candidate should have extensive experience in the use of various laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, signal generators and analysers to support development, verification and qualification test activities. Along with experience of testing with potentially lethal voltages (>50V) and the required safety regimes needed. This role reports to the Engineering Manager - Electronics, SwEC Centre of Excellence - EMEA.

Experienced in the design and test of electronics for motor control applications or similar, preferred knowledge includes: specifying electronic device parameters and assessment for stress and derating, experience with Cadence schematic capture process or similar, development and verification test and knowledge and experience of modelling and simulation tools is preferred, these could include PSpice, LTSpice, SIMetrix, ModelSim and/or MATLAB.

Good communication skills including report writing and project status reporting both written and verbal.
Extensive experience in the use of various laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, signal generators and analysers.

Own accountability for the on time delivery and quality of your allocating projects actions, including supporting progress reviews with technical team.

Work alongside the analogue, power electronics, controls and electromagnetics engineers and associated product teams to develop motor control solutions for various products solutions including but not limited to Brushless DC, AC and brushed DC motor controllers.

Robust technical problem solving abilities and experience of completing root cause analysis to a structured process

Support technical input for internal and customer design reviews as required.
Work to aerospace standards such as ARP4754A, DO160, DO254, DO178 and other required standards as applicable.

Qualifications:

University/college degree or equivalent
Relevant industry experience

Communications skills - both verbal and written with ability to generate and communicate clear status reports.
Strong task management skills with good prioritization and time management
Configuration and lifecycle management of design activity's
On time delivery of assigned tasks
