Java Software Engineer

Our client is looking for a java software engineer to participate in the development of Ground Segment System engineering for current and future satellite missions for our customers in the UK and European space industry.

Responsibilities:
As a Java Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of our growing team and contribute to the following areas:

- Collaborating on the development of Ground Segment systems for current and future satellite missions in the UK and European space industry.
- Engaging in challenging projects to develop systems used for the automated monitoring and control of spacecraft.
- Planning and coordinating ground segment development activities in close collaboration with our customers.
- Assisting in defining required tasks and technical objectives.
- Taking ownership of project definition, documentation, and successful completion.
- Serving as the primary interface between customers and product owners.
- Identifying, assessing, and managing project risks.
- Creating and maintaining realistic project and quality plans, providing regular and accurate reports to stakeholders.
- Communicating and coordinating project activities with the project team, including staff, partners, and subcontractors, and ensuring clear priorities are established.
- Facilitating timely and comprehensive quality reviews according to established procedures.
- Ensuring project deliverables are completed within the planned cost and timescale.
- Contributing your expertise and experience to drive project success.

Required Skills and Experience:
To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications:

- University degree in Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, or equivalent industrial experience.
- A minimum of three years of experience working in a Java Software Development environment.
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects and technical teams.
- Strong understanding of software development technologies and architectures.
- Sufficient technical skills to actively participate in technical discussions with the project team and contribute to solution-driven processes.
- Proficiency in writing technical documents, including user requirements, design documentation, and test documentation.
- Agile and flexible attitude towards work.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with fluency in English.
- Strong multitasking and organisational abilities.
- Dynamic and proactive attitude, with a strong commitment to the ongoing development and quality of products.
