Job description
You will be accountable for the following tasks including but not limited to:
* Provide Leadership on the FEED and detail design workstream for National Grid.
* Ensure adequate quality assurance and delivery of FEED, Detailed design and bids for NGET and DNOs.
* Ensure adequate resources and training of resources for the purposes of delivering FEED and detailed design work.
* Review the HV plant aspects of different projects including HV layouts, earthing design and reports, mechanical interlocking, HV busbar calculations and technical specification for the HV plant equipment.
* Coordination with back-office engineers, sub-contractors and suppliers as required.
* Proven record of ability to manage tender packages as tender manager and doing HV plant aspects of technical offers.
* Ability to attend and chair the design review and Hazard review meetings and reviewing HV plant design packages as required.
* Attending site visits, FAT and SAT as required.
* Strong communication skills along with teamworking attributes.
* Customer focused when dealing with customers, identifying their needs along with business development skills.
Qualifications
* Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience.
* Chartered Engineer through the IET.
* Track record of leading teams in the delivery of Front-End Engineering and design or Detailed design of EHV (132kV upwards) substation projects.
* Experience of working for a client organisation such as transmission system owner/operator, distribution network operator or a design consultancy delivering to such organisation.
* TP141 or equivalent authorised or ability to do so.
* Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Maintain existing and develop new client relationships.
* Experience in coaching and developing junior engineers.
* Flexibility to travel to client sites when required.
* Capability to work under tight deadlines while achieving objectives with the ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.
