Job description
Matchtech are looking to find a Project Engineer for a permanent position with one of our clients. The client is a large civils contractor who creates effective solutions to many types of ground engineering issues covering a wide range of sectors. The right candidate will join a business with a strong delivery team that is looking to grow to meet the demands of their clients and work bank.
As the project engineer you will be expected to:
- Work closely with the Infrastructure Lead to ensure project bids are adequately and competitively costed, compliant with the bid requirements and are presented in a professional manner.
- Work closely with the Commercial Manager to ensure Project Contracts have been reviewed and onerous contract conditions modified or delete to the satisfaction of the Commercial Manager; and assist with bidding for future projects.
- Develop construction plans, programmes, QA documents, ITP's, Risk Assessments, WHS documentation and on-site completion schedules.
- Schedule the activities of supervisors, project administrators and work closely with the Operations and Transport Manager to ensure resources are in place to achieve targets;
- Manage the engagement of subcontractors including preparation of request for tender, vetting of subcontractor quotations and the preparation of tender analysis for management review and approval.
- Supervise and manage contract administration responsibilities (let subcontracts, prepare monthly progress claims, manage contractual obligations with clients including preparation of contractual claims, variations RFI's, EWN's, EOT's, as required); and
- Preparation and monthly budget and project progress reports for submission to Management
The ideal candidate will be able to:
- Demonstrate 3 to 5 years plus previous experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in project management techniques, tools and methodologies, covering all phases of the project life cycle.
- Experience in preparation of contract documentation and specifications.
- Experience in project management and supervision of contractors.
- Experience in Civil Engineering Survey and Design; and
- Experience in preparation and presentation of technical reports and submissions.
