Job description

Two Senior Quantity Surveyors with experience of working on HV power projects, ideally in a railway environment, required for a contract opportunity in London.

This will see the successful candidate work on a £380million infrastructure upgrade programme where you will provide both pre and post contract commercial support . These roles will Hybrid working but candidates will need to be able to work from the company's office 2-3 days a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of NEC3 Option C construction contracts, including review and responding to contract communications, compensation events, early warnings, quotations, and applications for payment
  • Managing the commercial activities and their inter relation on major work- streams, projects, and programmes to deliver commercial control, including identifying and assessing potential risks to commercial agreements and supplier performance.
  • Preparation and presentation of monthly project commercial reports, including contract data metrics and cash flow forecast to completion
  • Attending regular internal and external meetings related to the contract management/supplier relationship management; internal governance/assurance processes; and routine cyclical business reporting
  • Management of claims, mitigation and advising on defence of claims, including analysis of the various parties' positions.
  • Plan, deliver and manage procurement activities to deliver contracts for the HV Power team, including production of relevant governance/authority papers and contract mobilisation post award.
  • Contract handover at completion including producing Contract Management Plan and minimum two-week handover to new staff


To be considered for the role candidate will have:

  • Experience of working on HV power projects, ideally in a railway environment.
  • Experience of developing procurement strategies for large, complex infrastructure projects (c£50m plus).
  • NEC3 forms of contract, and the ability to manage contract administration, including contract communications, change control, variation/compensation event assessment, valuation/certification, contract remedies and contract close out.
  • Knowledge of applicable public sector commercial regulations and legislation and application in both procurement and contract management
  • Several years' experience working on projects for complex service, systems, or construction projects over £100m in a regulated sector
  • Hold a relevant degree/master's qualification and/or professional membership of The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES), or Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or equivalent.
