Out client, a Maritime and Defence client, is looking for a Project Manager who specialises in site moves to join them on an initial 12 month contract at their site in Loudwater.

  • Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be sole British and eligible to obtain SC Clearance.
  • Hybrid working at their site in Loudwater.
  • The role has been deemed as INSIDE IR35, rates are open to negotiation.

Role Purpose

The Project Manager will be responsible for co-ordinating and managing the workstreams that will enable the consolidation of two manufacturing sites into a single location.

Key responsibilities

  • Review and pressure test the current project plan, timelines, deliverables, and milestones for each aspect of the consolidation project.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the project.
  • Request, challenge and manage commercial costs, contracts and contractors, using internal stakeholders to maintain downward pressure on costs
  • Reporting and Documentation:
  • Site Move Co-ordination
  • Monitor and manage construction activities, ensuring adherence to project specifications, timelines, and budgets.
  • Collaborate with workstream leaders to coordinate the transfer of research and development projects, manufacturing equipment, and technical engineering products, from existing site to the new location, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Oversee the setup of the new facility, ensuring optimal layout and functionality for efficient manufacturing operations and managing all business continuity risks
  • Manage Political Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Financial Tracking and Budget Management:
  • Work with the Finance team to establish and maintain a robust financial tracking system to monitor project expenditures, ensuring adherence to approved budgets, identify cost-saving opportunities, and report financial performance to senior management.
  • Work with Procurement teams to manage vendor contracts and delivery, ensuring competitive pricing and timely delivery of goods and services.

Role requirements

  • Expertise: deep technical HR expertise in relevant processes and tools but also knowledge of legal frameworks and regulations that are required to move a manufacturing business from one site to another
  • Skills and capability assessment => identify and then retain critical talent through the move period; this will also feed into broader HR strategy work on succession planning
  • Relocation process: how to plan and execute the actual relocation of staff from one workplace to new location, with the associated different ways of working / change management / comms needed to bring ppl on the journey
  • Consultation Process: Planning and supporting the management of the Consultation process, updating contracts to change location / entity as appropriate, ensuring that fair due process is followed for moving work locations and supporting managers as they discuss the move with team members.
  • Retention Plan: Execution of the existing Retention packages, travel subsidies and benefits, as well as supporting the senior leadership team in communicating to and managing those who will receive the packages.
  • Previous experience within a fast-paced HR department
  • Experience of transformation and change
