Job summary

I am looking for an Environment Manager for highways projects, the role is working on a major motorway scheme around the Cobham/Guildford area. There is hybrid working (3 days site 2 days office) and Construction experience is desirable.

Job description

I am looking for someone to support on this highways project but also be a part of the business' new sustainability strategy and other major projects. You will manage all environmental and sustainability data collection, collation, analysis and track overall business performance and progress. You will also manage Sustainability Action Plans and develop and implement business interventions to ensure progress is made.

You will be a part of key sustainability projects which support the delivery of the business' key sustainability ambitions (including Carbon, Materials, Waste and Social Value)

You will also:

  • Support with the carbon/sustainability internal and external bi/annual audits
  • Work with projects to support the development and execution of project Sustainability / Involved Plans / Waste Management / Carbon Management
  • Develop Environmental and Sustainability Case Studies, good news stories and lessons learned.
  • Coordinate and undertake regular Site inspections with the construction teams to monitor compliance with the environmental licences/consents for the works and environmental plans and procedures; implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with UK regulations and legislation;
  • Review and/or support project with the development of Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and Sustainability Action Plan and specialist procedures as appropriate.
  • Undertake Environmental compliance evaluations, inspections and audits at prescribed intervals - record outputs and liaise with site management to ensure actions are completed.
  • Promote a positive environmental culture through proactive engagement and communications with project teams, including the supply chain

We are looking for:

  • UK Driving Licence
  • Environmental Degree or related discipline (preferred) or NEBOSH Environmental Diploma or IEMA Certificate
  • Relevant CSCS Card
  • Strong working knowledge of Energy and Carbon [PAS 2080]
  • Investigation (root cause analysis) techniques for incident investigation

The salary is 45-65k depending on experience plus a car or car allowance, 25 days holiday (+BH) and medical cover.
