Job description

Technical Manager - Christchurch

As a Technical Manager you will work closely with the Project Manager and Engineering Manager to successfully deliver our customer commitments. You will have the technical ability, aptitude and confidence in this role to lead engineering teams and be responsible for requirements, design, implementation and delivery, in conjunction with product safety, security and certification.

Main responsibilities

  • Analysis, design and delivery of solutions to meet programme, business and customer requirements
  • Applying engineering expertise to solve complex engineering problems
  • Leading, inspiring and developing engineering teams
  • Knowledge of the latest technologies and how they can be applied to complex problems
  • Leading the engineering aspects of winning bids

Essential Skills:

  • Strong Systems Engineering background with a minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Leading the technical solution through the whole lifecycle from concept to in-service
  • Understanding requirements (both in terms of technology need and operational context
  • Integration of Commercial Of the Shelf technologies
  • Understanding of Information Systems
  • Understanding of MoD or Industry IT projects and programmes

Desirable Skills:

  • Appropriate professional registration (IET etc)
  • Assembly or installation aspects for COTS and Military IT equipment
  • Understanding of Security Architectures
  • Understanding of Development Frameworks
  • Understanding of Software Architectures and Software implementation
  • Physical and Electrical Safety, Security and Environmental compliance

Soft Skills:

  • Positive attitude; thriving in a varied, complex, and frequently changing work environment, often with demanding timescales;
  • Self-organisation and good time management;
  • Innovative and able to drive improvement;
  • Occasional travel to customer sites to support deployment may be required;

The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.
